Church Weekend Away Day 2

LCBC Online

Posted on 2nd May 2015 at 14:21 by LCBC News in LCBC News Blog

This morning we enjoyed the first session with our guest speaker, Ray Evans, who led us in examining the three graces that apply to our attitude to our fellow church family as well as to visitors: Prayer, Love and Hospitality.  These, he emphasised are things which every Christian should be able to do as distinct from those individual gifts perhaps only given to some. (1 Peter 4: 7-9)

Breaking into small groups we discussed what this meant for how we approach our service to the church community. As someone observed 'It was very useful and practical, and a reminder of things that we perhaps knew but may have forgotten to practise.'

The afternoon was spent in games, sports, walking, craft or just putting our feet up, and plenty of opportunities for getting to know each other better. The children also had a great time with lego, sports and lots of cake.

After another excellent dinner we were privileged to enjoy an evening entertainment, which, in true LCBC style had us oohing with admiration and crying with laughter!  As our compere Martin pointed such proceedings are 'never knowingly over-rehearsed!'

cm9However we really appreciated music from even the youngest children, as well as a scratch choir who gave us their version of Bowie's Major Tom - in this instance celebrating Deacon Syd getting stuck in the lift!

We also enjoying a rendition of a Yorkshire poem about Magna Carta and the welcome return of both Aggie and Gertie and our local bobbies, PC Robson and PC Jackson.
