LCBC Men’s Event – Golf Tuition Evening at Studley Wood Golf Club

On the evening of Monday 6^th July, 18 of LCBC’s men and their friends attended Studley Wood Golf Club for an evening of fellowship and golf tuition. It was great to meet up with people we see regularly in Church and their friends.

On arrival at 7pm, we had drinks at the bar and a great selection of sandwiches and chips to provide us with all the nourishment needed to enjoy some great tuition and some team competitions.

Our host was Pat Flynn, a PGA professional and after some guidance on grip, positioning and posture we all proceeded with our bucket of balls to the driving range.

As Pat moved up the line, giving each of us some advice, the progress was visible – some getting a golf ball off the ground for the first time, others simply hitting straighter and further than we had ever done before.

Then came the competition; split into two teams we had a chipping and putting competition – this inevitably bought out the team spirit to win. More importantly though, it enabled us to bond as a group, to celebrate and commiserate depending on which side you were on!

As dusk approached, we headed back to the Club House, quenched our thirst and we were all privileged to hear Pat's testimony. Some of us drew strength from it, some truly related to Pat by seeing some similarities to their own testimony. It was a testimony of faith and communicated the message that if we put God first in our lives, He will guide us through whatever life throws at us. It was with gratitude and the knowledge of our heavenly Father that has helped Pat through difficult times and his testimony served as a reminder that God is there for all of us should we seek him and accept His love.
