Mission
This map comes from Global Connections, a growing network of UK agencies with a shared vision of 'mission at the heart of the church, the church at the heart of mission'.
Global Connections regularly collects prayer information from member agencies working around the world - click on individual countries to view prayer points for that region.
As each page opens in a new window, they may be blocked by your browser's pop-up blocker. If this is the case a beige bar will appear at the top of your browser window. Click on the bar and follow the onscreen instructions to enable the pages to open correctly.
LCBC supports mission workers both in the UK and further afield.
The Wycliffe Centre (UK headquarters for Wycliffe Bible Translators) is not far away, and we have the pleasure of regular fellowship with a number of their members, trainees and volunteers from all around the world. This gives an additional vibrancy to our missionary involvement.
LCBC actively encourages people of all ages to undertake short term service. This can be valuable preparation for everyday life for a young Christian, a way to gain a better understanding of what God is doing around the world, or the testing of a call to more specific Christian work. In recent years some of our young people have worked with deprived children in Eastern Europe and Africa, supported medical missions, and helped teach the children of missionaries.
Every two years we have a special Missionary Weekend when we focus on some aspect of Christian mission around the world. In February 2009 we stayed in the UK with the visit of a team from London
City Mission - there is a full report on our Mission archive page.
Plans for 2011 are in hand, with more detail to follow.
