Cornerstone news
* Missionary Gift Day - Lighthouse, and John & Abi Hunt - Sunday June 13
Preaching is at the heart of the services at Cornerstone, and we are just coming to the end of a series on 'Aspects of humanity' from the book of Genesis.
On Sunday 6 June a new series of sermons begins in Paul's letter to Titus about 'Churches that change the world'. We'd like to be that sort of church - come and find out more. If you miss any of these you can pick them up on the podcast page.
You can also download a copy of the full programme through to the end of the summer holidays.
Missionary Gift Day
On Sunday 13 June we have another opportunity to bring our special offerings, this time for two items close to the heart of Cornerstone.
Lighthouse is the summer holiday club for children that happens every year - watch out for more news very shortly, or visit www.lighthousethame.org.uk for full details of how to register children to join in, or to become a helper.
Dates are 23-30 July, and the new venue for this year is Lord Williams's Upper School.
John and Abi Hunt are members of Long Crendon Baptist Church who worship at Cornerstone when they are in the UK.
Their work is in Nigeria at a theological college in Tofa, near Kano and about five hours north from Jos. We have the privilege of helping support them in prayer and giving.
The particular need at present is to cover the cost of a new generator to ensure a reliable supply of electricity for the college, students and staff.
If our local church ceased to exist would anyone in our community notice?
What real difference would it make to my colleagues or neighbours if I switched jobs or moved away?
Square MILE explores the impact God calls us to make in our world - on the immediate
square mile around our homes, workplaces and churches. Using the letters of the word
MILE the programme examines the Bible's teaching on four major areas of impact:
- Mercy - demonstrating God's compassion to the poor
- Influence - being salt and light in the public life of the community
- Life discipleship - equipping Christians for missional living as workers and neighbours
- Evangelism - faithful and relevant communication of the gospel

Am I prepared for my life to be changed? And am I ready to make a difference in my
square mile? Pick up the sermons online from May 2009 as a start.
At the back of the hall there is now a Square MILE table for notes of projects that Cornerstone can be involved in, and to look at new ideas. Visit it regularly and keep contributing. And watch this space for more news.
Roughly once a month there is a Coffee Morning at Thame Leisure Centre for people who enjoy getting fit.
Joining a gym or taking up a sport often triggers a need to improve other areas of life including the spiritual dimension.
Fit Lives is a Christian organisation offering a listening ear. They 'help people make life work' by working with a local church to support a volunteer 'Life Skills Coordinator' who gets known as someone to turn to (with the blessing of the centre management).
The next Coffee Morning for gym members is on 14th July from 9.00am to 11.00am.

The coordinator in Thame is Patsy Baker, also well-known as a local runner. Ask for her at Thame Leisure Centre or leave a message with one of the gym staff.
