Early in 2007 a small group of people got together for a monthly session of Scrabble. Judy Hewer‘s Mum, Vi Rutherford, had come to live with them. Vi was a keen Scrabble player, and for convenience the group met at the Hewers’ home.

In 2014, when the building work at LCBC was completed and Vi was no longer with us, the group moved to meet in the lovely new surroundings. Now in 2016 the Hewers are off to Gateshead, and we took the opportunity at our March session to make a small presentation to Judy as a reminder of our times together and a thank-you for her hospitality.

We continue to meet on the first Monday of each month from 2.00pm to 4.00pm, usually fitting in three games and a cup of tea. Our approach is very informal, more to improve our word power than keep to the strict rules. If the first Monday is a Bank Holiday we choose another week.

New players, of any standard, are always welcome.
