Spring craft 2Friday night saw LCBC's first ever Spring craft evening, which was really inspiring as well as being great fun.

I never thought a women's craft event would sound quite so industrious but that's what happens when you have a room full of staple guns and hammers.

The evening began with a very witty flower arranging demonstration from Gill Esam. Gill showed us how to make excellent use of the colourful flowerpot we were given containing all the materials for the notice board.

Spring craft 1Gill used it to produce an eye catching table centre piece for the spring. We're especially grateful to Gill who stepped in at the last minute to fill this slot in the programme.

The main event was a demonstration by Lynn McCann on how to make a beautiful and very useful notice board covered in lovely material, complete with ribbon and decorative buttons.

The staple guns on the whole behaved themselves throughout the evening but there were a few that were a little irksome. I certainly never realised there were so many different ways manufacturers could think up to load staples into their specific staple guns!

Spring craft 5Our new found staple gun skills were further inspired by the final demonstration of the evening from Jacqui Finlay. Jacqui showed us how to cover canvasses in material to make very stylish artwork to complement the decor in any room.

We were also treated to an array of very delicious savoury and sweet canapés as well as a glass of Pimm's or elderflower lemonade. Thanks to Jane Goldsmith, Yvonne Short, Liz Turton and Jo Roach for these yummy treats!

We are extremely grateful to Neil Turton who delivered a great a talk around our notice board theme and Ian Wallace who was our technical support for the evening, helping the evening look very slick and professional.

Dare I say we are now all looking forward to the next Christmas inspired craft evening and Christmas market, both of which are coming up at the end of this year so watch our future Events page for more details.

Many thanks to all who came and everyone who helped to make the event a great success!
