The Kasem Bibles arrive!

Two LCBC members, Philip and Judy Hewer, have worked with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Ghana for many years, and their latest project is coming to a wonderful conclusion. Two local Pastors, Jonah and Abraham, called recently from Navrongo in Ghana to say that they were watching the Kasem Bibles, which the Hewers had guided through the translation and editing process, being unloaded off a truck that had arrived from Accra.

They were excited because this is the first that they had seen of the printed Bibles. Abraham quoted Proverbs 25:2 - from the Kasem translation of course! Roughly it translates as:  “When a sweet message arrives from far away, it soothes the heart like cold water refreshing the innards.”

The 500 boxes of the Kasem Bibles (the first in the Kasem language) had been brought by road the 500 miles from Accra, a 2 day journey.

Although 180 of the 8,000 Bibles were damaged by water, probably on-board the ship from South Korea where they were printed, there should be some insurance reimbursement for that. Please pray that the current storage location near Pastor Abraham’s house will be damp-proof and termite-proof.

The official launch and dedication events for the Bible will be in November, when the rainy season will be over and people will be ready to celebrate.
