women's conventionAfter an early start and a chance to wake up properly on the minibus(!), last Saturday, twenty ladies from LCBC attended the London Women's Convention at Emmanuel Evangelical church in London. The venue is an impressive building which seats several hundred people.

The title of the convention was Love Restored.

After an opening time of worship and introductory talk we split into seminars discussing various issues around the subject of sexual purity.  Several of us attended a seminar on how to survive in a sex crazed culture, looking particularly at how to help children cope with  some of  the pressures they face today.   Another seminar on offer was a very helpful testimony which some of the group heard.

After lunch (and more coffee!) we had a very helpful talk from Andrea Trevenna who explained biblically God's intended purpose for relationships and our relationship to him.  She spoke of God's wonderful plan to redeem us to himself in a right relationship where we can be forgiven and restored to him; not through anything we may have done or not done but purely by his grace and favour and our decision to accept this and his forgiveness.    She used a simple but powerful animation of God's restoring plan of salvation for us.  The day ended with another time of worship. The sound of a large gathering of women singing praises to God was quite beautiful and it was a privilege to be there.

Thanks to Pauline and Liz for organising this day out to the conference. We all found it a real encouragement to spend a day together in this way.
